Academics & Athletics
At Modesto Christian, we seek to develop Christ-centered leaders through excellence in academics, athletics, and the arts. Student-athletes are expected to pursue excellence both in the classroom and in competition, demonstrating integrity, responsibility, and strong character as representatives of the MC community. Participation in athletics is a privilege that requires students to maintain academic progress, responsible conduct, and commitment to their educational responsibilities.
In accordance with CIF Sac-Joaquin Section guidelines, academic eligibility for student-athletes is determined at the end of each academic quarter.

Participation in athletics is considered a privilege at Modesto Christian. Students who fail to meet academic or behavioral expectations may become temporarily ineligible for athletic participation until their academic standing or conduct improves.
Interested in playing college sports?
Students who are interested in competing in athletics at the collegiate level should begin planning early in high school to ensure they meet academic eligibility requirements. College athletic programs have specific academic standards that student-athletes must meet in order to participate.
Students who plan to compete at the NCAA Division I level must complete 16 NCAA-approved core courses between grades 9–12 and maintain a minimum 2.3 GPA in those core courses. Prospective student-athletes must also register with the NCAA Eligibility Center, typically by their junior year of high school, to begin the eligibility review process.
Students who plan to compete at the NCAA Division II level must complete 16 NCAA-approved core courses and maintain a minimum 2.2 GPA in those courses. Students must also register with the NCAA Eligibility Center in order to determine their academic eligibility.
Students who plan to compete at an NAIA college or university must meet academic eligibility requirements set by the NAIA. In most cases, students must graduate from high school and meet at least two of the following three criteria:

Students who are interested in competing in athletics at the collegiate level are encouraged to meet with the school’s College and Career Counselor to review course selection, graduation progress, and athletic eligibility requirements. Early planning helps ensure students are completing the appropriate coursework and meeting eligibility standards for NCAA or NAIA athletic participation.
