Testing and Evaluation

Modesto Christian uses a variety of assessments to support student learning and evaluate academic progress. These assessments help teachers and administrators monitor student growth, evaluate instructional effectiveness, and ensure students are developing the skills needed for academic success. Assessment results are used to guide instructional decisions, support student learning, and identify areas where additional support or enrichment may be beneficial.

Standardized Assessments

Students in grades K–12 participate in standardized testing through the Iowa Assessments, administered through the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). The Iowa Assessments are nationally norm-referenced achievement tests designed to measure student learning and academic growth compared to national benchmarks. The assessments provide reliable data that allows educators to monitor progress over time and evaluate how well students are developing essential academic skills.

The assessments measure student achievement and thinking skills in several core academic areas, including:

  • Reading and vocabulary
  • Language and written expression
  • Mathematics and computation
  • Science
  • Social Studies

These assessments measure both foundational knowledge and higher-order thinking skills,

providing insight into how well students understand and apply academic concepts.

Detailed score reports are provided to families once results are received and processed by the school.

Testing Schedule

Modesto Christian administers standardized testing annually.

  • Fall: PSAT/NMSQT for qualifying high school students
  • Spring: ACSI Iowa Assessments for students in grades K–12

Specific testing dates are communicated to families each school year once the school testing calendar is finalized.

College Entrance Exams

Students planning to attend a four-year college or university may choose to take college entrance exams such as the SAT or ACT.

These exams are administered by national testing organizations and may be used by some colleges as part of the admissions process.

Students interested in taking college entrance exams are encouraged to speak with the College and Career Counselor to learn about

testing options, registration timelines, and preparation resources.

Using Assessment Results

Assessment results help Modesto Christian evaluate academic programs and make informed decisions about curriculum and instruction.

Data from the Iowa Assessments allows teachers and administrators to monitor student progress over time, identify trends in student learning,

and support instructional planning that benefits all students. Families with questions about testing or assessment results are encouraged

to contact the College and Career Counselor.
