History

Founded in 1962 by Pastor Roy Blakeley of Neighborhood Church, Modesto Christian School is one of thirty charter members of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). Pastor Blakeley's vision was to have a school that assists and supports parents in their responsibility to teach, train and prepare their children for life. He believed this is accomplished through an excellent, Christ-centered education in which God and His Word serve as the foundation for all learning.

In 2016, Modesto Christian School was purchased from Neighborhood Church and is now under the ownership of Modesto Christian School Incorporated (MCSI). MCSI purchased 32 of the original 55-acre campus and built a new preschool and elementary campus. Currently, the middle school is housed on the same campus as the high school. What was once an open campus is now a safely gated learning environment for all who attend.

Modesto Christian is a preschool through 12th grade school and is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

Mission

Modesto Christian is a mission-driven school with the sole purpose to develop Christ-centered leaders through excellence in academics, athletics, and the arts.

Our goal is for students to know Jesus and to make Him known.

We recognize that every person is in a different place when it comes to a relationship with God. At MCS, we take an evangelistic approach to Christian education, giving students the opportunity to know Jesus and live a Christ-centered life.

Jesus changes lives!

We provide students with opportunities to experience the transformational power of Christ through Bible classes, weekly Chapel, and one-on-one pastoral care. We integrate biblical teachings into every aspect of our curriculum, preparing our students to live out their faith boldly and compassionately in the world around them.

Faith

Our students are encouraged to develop a deep, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, understanding His love, grace, and truth. As a school, we stand firm on our Statement of Faith, affirming our commitment to Biblical truth, and we strive to empower each child to grow in knowledge, wisdom, and Christlikeness.

Statement of Faith

Modesto Christian's Statement of Faith

The school views itself as an indispensable part of the three major forces in the life of each child:

the home, the church, and the school. Modesto Christian School was founded and functions upon

the basic, fundamental principles of the Word of God, and it espouses the historic Christian view

of life as presented in the Bible. The following statements of faith are held by Modesto Christian:

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God

(II Timothy 3:15; II Peter 1:21).

We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

(Genesis 1:1; Matthew 28:19; John 10:30).

We believe in the deity of Christ (John 10:33); His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23; Luke

1:35); His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15, 7:26); His miracles (John 2:11); His vicarious and atoning

death (I Corinthians 15:3; Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 2:9); His resurrection (John 11:25; I

Corinthians 15:4); His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19); His personal return

in power and glory (Acts 1:11; Revelation 19:11).

We believe in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of

the exceeding sinfulness of human nature, and that men are justified on the single ground of faith

in the shed blood of Christ and that only by God's grace and through faith alone we are saved

from condemnation. (John 3:16-19, 5:24; Romans 3:23, 5:8-9; Ephesians 2:8-10; Titus 3:5).

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the

resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of condemnation. (John 5:28-

29; Matthew 25:46).

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:9; I Corinthians

12:12-13; Galatians 3:26-28; Romans 12:4-6).

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is

enabled to live a godly life (Romans 8:12-14; I Corinthians 3:16, 6:19-20; Ephesians 4:30,

5:18).

We believe that God wonderfully foreordained and immutably created each person as either

male or female in conformity with their biological sex. These two distinct yet complementary

genders, together, reflect the image and nature of God (Genesis 1:26–27).

We believe human beings are image-bearers of God, and as such, we value and honor each

and every person (Genesis 1:26-27, Colossians 3:9-10).
